Lessons behind Dinkum Game
I am not a real gamer or streamer. But sometimes, in my free time, I would spend my time having fun with a game released last June, Dinkum, similar to Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon.
From my perspective, I learned a lot from this game in terms of life and career lessons.
Patience is a key
During the early game, we don’t have much money to begin with. We have to accept the quest, finish it, and sell some items we found on the beach or forest.
Being patient and keeping consistency is what most surviving games are teaching.
Surviving in a wilderness of life is not that bad!
The game will have monsters, from crocodiles and sharks to other creatures. Our goal is to survive no matter what to do.

In real life, we always bump into challenges that sometimes you can’t see ahead. Whether you work from home, full-time, part-time, or are an entrepreneur, the challenges will vary, and they won’t leave you alone.
Stay on your track, embrace yourself and prepare your new strategy. Life is full of possibilities and techniques.
Being helpful is a REWARD but not all could be TRUE
During the game, you also try to finish the quest of what the resident asks. Some of them ask us to buy their stuff. Others might ask us to find something for them, e.g., fish or meat.
If we are lucky, we could find that in a few minutes; if not, we need to go further.

In real life, we often help others in need, even if the help is beyond our capabilities. Being helpful is nice, but we can’t give all of our power to contribute to helping them.
Nature provides you. You should give back.
We live on a planet that does not wholly belong to us. We forget how much we, as humans, either intentionally or unintentionally destroy the earth for our sake.
Dinkum teaches us that after we cut down the forest trees, we should replant them again using the seeds.
In reality, we always think about our future, not the earth. Well, some start thinking about how to live sustainably, while others don’t feel responsible.
Being sustainable is not about you have to plant trees in every inch of your house yard. You can start with simple things like using the reusable bag to do grocery or even bringing your water tumbler every time you are away from home.
Life is about planning
In the game, to stay alive, you have to consider to prepare a bunch of food before going to the forest. The food will be in your pocket. However, not all gamers will do that and risk themselves on their way.

The same thing applies to us. I agree not everyone loves to do planning for what’s ahead or what we are supposed to do next week or even next year. However, it is always good to have a general idea for the coming weeks. Do we ever know what will happen?
